CAIRO, Sept 18: Cultural bonds between India and Egypt have provided a strong foundation for advancing the bilateral relationship and it is necessary to focus on exchanges to highlight the diversity of society, India’s envoy here said.
“Cultural bonds provided a strong foundation for advancing India-Egypt partnership,” Indian ambassador to Egypt Sanjay Bhattacharyya said.
He also said it is necessary to focus on exchanges highlighting the diversity of society, establish collaborative ventures and reach out to new audiences for further strengthening the foundation.
Bhattacharyya was speaking at a roundtable seminar on ‘Cultural bonds in India-Egypt relations’ at Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC) in Indian embassy last Thursday.
The MACIC Roundtable is a monthly seminar series on issues of common interest to stimulate discussion and share best practices between youth, academia, civil society and media.
The Ambassador also mentioned that the next mega cultural festival India by the Nile would be larger than before and would seek close cooperation of Egyptian artists in the array of events celebrating India at 70.
Four eminent speakers shared their views on different aspects of cultural relations at the event. The four speakers were Dr Hisham Gabr, Director of Art and Music at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Prof Nadia Jereidini, Vice President of Egypt-India Friendship Association, Ati Metwaly, Art & Culture Editor, Al-Ahram and Jayanti Maydeo, Executive Committee Member of Indian Community Association in Egypt.
