India’s unemployment challenge

Sir,
The issue of unemployment in India continues to be a pressing concern that requires immediate attention. While the recent initiatives in the tech and digit manufacturing sector are promising, they alone cannot solve the country’s unemployment problem. The data suggests that despite some improvements, the overall unemployment rate remains high, particularly among women and young graduates.
As we head into state elections, political parties are focusing on this critical issue. It is imperative that the government formulates a comprehensive plan to boost job creation, particularly in labour-intensive sectors. Filling the numerous vacancies in schools, colleges, health centres, and other public institutions across the country can provide substantial employment opportunities.
Furthermore, enhancing the allocation for MGNREGS and considering the establishment of an urban employment scheme are steps in the right direction. The government must prioritize job creation to ensure social, economic, and political stability in the nation.
