Indo-Pak troops exchange fire

SRINAGAR, Oct 23: India and Pakistani troops today continued to exchange fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kamalkote area of Uri sector in North Kashmir for third consecutive day forcing closure of schools.
“Intermittent exchange of firing took place between our soldiers and Pakistani troops along the LoC in the Uri sector (in the Kamalkote area) till 6.00 am today,” an official said.
The exchange of fire took place near the LoC in the Kamalkote area on Saturday, resulting in death of an Army porter and injuries to two women. The exchange of heavy firing continued in the same sector yesterday.
Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, the authorities closed at least six schools close to the LoC.
They said the schools which have been closed for the time being are in Dolanja, Madya, Jabda,Ganging,  kayan and Saki localities.
In the meantime, police today said that they arrested two persons of border town of Teetwal in Srinagar and recovered ammunition from them.
“At about 1800 hours, police while Naka Checking on NHW near N.R Colony Bemina, under Batamaloo police station apprehended two persons namely Shakoor Ahmad Ksokhar son of Sanyee Khee and Tanveer Ahmad Raja son of Abdul Rashid Raja, residents of Teetwal Karnah Kupwara and recovered 400 live rounds of AK-47 from their possession”, a police spokesman said.
A man was shot and injured by militants in Kellar area of Shopian district this evening.
Muhammad Maqbool Bhat alias Magge Khan, resident of Battmurran village of Kellar area of Shopian district was fired upon by militants near his house.
He sustained bullet wounds in his leg and was rushed to nearby hospital where his condition is stated to be out of danger. Soon after the incident, security forces rushed to the spot and launched manhunt against the the attackers.
