JAMMU, Sept 12: Executive Committee  of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has alleged that industrial activity has almost stalled in the J&K State due to non-issuance of package of incentives.
A meeting of the members of Bari Brahmana Industries Association was held here today under the chairmanship of  Lalit  Mahajan,   BBIA president in presence of Suresh Mahajan- senior vice president,  Ajay Langer – general secretary,  Vivek Singhal-secretary and others to discuss the uncertainty prevailing in the mind of majority of industrial units holders working in the State due to delay tactics being adopted by State Finance Department  for issuance of  State package of incentives to J&K industrial units under GST regime.
Members raised their serious concern in respect of various problems being faced by the industrial units due to delay in the issuance of notifications for the extension of State package of incentives by the State Govt,   resulting   uncertainty  prevailing in the mind of industrial units of J&K who are totally dependent on the sale of their products within the State.
It is pertinent to mention here that prior to GST regime, thousands of Micro and Small Scale Units of the State were working due to package of incentives given by the State Govt  as per the Industrial Policy 2016 by passing the benefit of VAT remissions to the customers to compete with the suppliers from outside the State but under GST regime the local units are unable to sell their products resulting in great resentments amongst the Micro & SSI Units as the State Govt has failed to announce the State package of incentives in spite of repeated request and reminders.
They alleged that State Finance Department has failed to fulfill the assurances given in the last meeting held at Jammu on  August 26, 2017 for the issue  of notifications  by  September 10, 2017,  which can be termed as false commitment  of the State Govt.  They alleged that lame excuses were given by the Finance Department in all the previous meetings that State Govt is waiting for the issuance of Central Govt notification, whereas, the extension of State package of incentive is the prerogative of State Govt.
