‘Industries discriminate in paying wages’

JAMMU, Apr 29: Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) has claimed that in the ongoing lockdown some industries are paying wages selectively to permanent employees thereby discriminating others.
In a handout Harbans Choudhary, senior BMS leader urged upon the Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Girish Chandra Murmu to ensure action against such industrials as they demand industrial packages and concessions and more financial assistances but violate the norms of paying wages.
He said that there are over 1500 employees in one such industry but only 400-500 were paid for March and same is the position in Samba and Kathua districts.
BMS has demanded package and concessions to the industry on the condition that interests of permanent as well as contractual workers should be taken care of on priority.
