JAMMU, May 13: Government Polytechnic Jammu in collaboration with Department of Industries and Commerce here today organised an Industry-Academia Meet to bridge the gap between local industries and academia.
Representatives from various industrial associations, unit holders, DIC Jammu, faculty of Government Polytechnic Jammu and others attended the meet.
Virender Kumar Manyal, General Manager, DIC Jammu along with Arun Bangotra, Principal Government Polytechnic Jammu chaired the meet.
After welcome address Arun Bangotra said that the meet was an opportunity to access the nature and magnitude of the skill gap across the district and to take appropriate measures in conducting skill training to bridge the skill gap.
Virender Kumar Manyal said they need industry-academia collaboration to make sure that the engineers of tomorrow are ready to face the challenges of fast-paced world.
The session witnessed participation from S.C Dutta, president Birpur Industrial Association; Vinod Kumar vice president; Ajay Langer, vice president, Bari Brahmana Industrial Association; B.L Koul, representative Pharmaceutical Association; Pankaj Sharma, Plant Head, Saraswati; Ashok Kumar, Rajesh and other representatives from industry associations and unit holders.
MoU was also signed between Principal, Government Polytechnic Jammu and Center for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training Jammu and General Manager, DIC Jammu with a collective commitment to go beyond common boundaries to build the bridge between the local industries and the local skilled youth.
Proceedings were coordinated by Sakshi Kapahi Lecturer I&C Department.
