NEW DELHI, Sept 15:
A parliamentary delegation led by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan will visit New Zealand from September 17 to 22.
During its visit, the delegation will call on the Speaker of New Zealand’s parliament, David Carter, and will hold meetings with members of the New Zealand-India Parliamentary Friendship Group at Wellington.
The delegation will also meet the Indian community members at an event hosted by New Zealand Indian Central Association (NZICA) in Auckland.
NZICA was formed in 1926, making it the oldest established Indian organisation in New Zealand. It consists of 10 affiliated branches and seven associate or probationary members that represent the Indian diaspora in the country.
The Lok Sabha Speaker will also unveil photographs of Indian soldiers of World War-I (WWI).
The delegation includes Members of Parliament Prem Chand Gupta (RJD), Prem Singh Chandumajra (Akali Dal), Deepender Singh Hooda (Congress), C R Patil, Darshana Vikram Jardosh, Padmakar alias Anil Gulabrao Shirole (all from BJP), besides Rajya Sabha BJP MP Ranvijay Singh Judev and Congress MP Vivek K Tankha.
Lok Sabha secretary General Anoop Mishra and joint secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat Cyril John is the secretary to the delegation. (PTI)
