JAMMU, Sept 27: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief and party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Ludhiana, Amrinder Singh Raja Brar today vehemently criticised both the Prime Minister and the LG Administration for their failure to “focus on progressive schemes instead engaging in divisive and frivolous activities” in J&K.
PPCC chief was addressing series of public meetings at Nai Basti in support of Congress candidate from Jammu South constituency Raman Bhalla, in Gandhinagar-Bahu areas in support of TS Tony, Jammu West in support of Th Manmohan Singh in border constituency of Suchetgarh in favour of Bhushan Lal Dogra today.
Speaking in the ralies, Brar alleged that inflation and unemployment were rising in the country due to the wrong policies of the BJP-led Govt at the Centre. He hit out at the Modi Government, saying prices of all essential commodities have skyrocketed while unemployment too had risen. He said BJP has pushed the Jammu and Kashmir into unprecedented political uncertainty by failing to maintain law and order and indulging in politics of hate. He promised the gathering that issues of PoJK Refugees and smart meters will be highlighted by him in Parliament and appealed people to ensure victory of Congress candidates.
Cautioning people against the divisive agenda of the BJP, he said, “The BJP’s priorities are clear: they serve the interests of big business houses, allowing them to exploit Jammu and Kashmir’s resources and dominate key sectors like mining and liquor contracts”.
He regretted that instead of focusing on the real issue BJP shamelessly indulged in dividing the society to divert the attention of the people from basic issues.
The Cong MP sounded a warning bell for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, cautioning them against the deceitful tactics of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“The BJP’s anti-poor policies have crippled the state, and it’s time for the people to take a stand”, he said.
“For over a decade, the BJP has been in power in Jammu and Kashmir, making tall promises but delivering nothing”, the Punjab Congress chief said.
“Their promise of 5 lakh jobs is just another hollow slogan to lure voters. However, the reality on the ground tells a different story. The BJP has failed to provide employment opportunities to the people, leaving them struggling to make ends meet”, he said.
“Unemployment is a critical issue plaguing the country, with over 70 crore people without jobs. This staggering figure is a testament to the BJP’s failure to address the problem”, the Lok Sabha member from Ludhiana pointed out adding, “The media’s silence on this issue is deafening, but the Congress party will not be silenced. We will continue to raise our voices against the BJP’s inaction”.
“Restoring Statehood is a critical issue for Jammu and Kashmir. However, the BJP has deliberately delayed it despite having the power to do so. This delay is a deliberate attempt to maintain their grip on the state, continuing to exploit its resources for their gain. But the people of Jammu and Kashmir will not be fooled”.
“BJP ever since getting access to power in Delhi had been on a rampage of dispossessing and disempowering common people of Jammu and Kashmir. It’s not about a particular community or a sect, they have went berserk against all of us collectively. We have been used as political cannon fodders by BJP all across the country”, Brar said.
