JAMMU, Nov 5: A massive protest was held today by the inhabitants of 10 villages headed by Panchs and Sarpanchs at Revenue Training Institute Gole Gujral against Government for including these villages in newly created Panchayat Marh and Nayabat Shahzadpur from existing Nayabat Gole and tehsil Jammu.
Large number of people of these villages including their Panchs and Sarpanchs, besides representatives of various welfare committees participated in the dharna. Protestors strongly opposed Government order for including villages Gole, Sehora, Ranjitpur, Kharbuje, Chakgulami, Gujral, Dhamal, Tarlokpur, Hazooribag and Kheyarian in newly created Shahzadpur Nayabat.
They alleged that they have been cheated this way as the new Panchyat and Nayabat is far away. People were expecting Gole to be elevated to Tehsil level for benefit but were shocked by finding themselves out of Gole Nayabat, the protestors alleged. It is beyond understanding that even people of Gole themselves have been outsed and forced to travel a distance of about 15 km. to Shahzadpur, they added. Protestors said that the objective behind the creation of new units was to provide facility to common man on door steps and not to harass them.
Terming the new order unjustified they said order seems to have been issued without any ground work and with malafide intension and is anti public. Protestors alleged that instead of providing facility to the people on door step as claimed, they are being forced to face more problems by issuing such arbitrary, meaningless and anti people orders, which cannot be accepted.
Protestors alleged that possibility of foul play for political gain can not be ruled out. Protestors urged the Chief Minister to get matter probed and withdraw the order in the interest of public without any delay.
