RAMBAN, Nov 1: Inhabitants of Bowali Bazar and people living in other localities have vehemently opposed the proposed move of opening Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) shop in close vicinity of Jammu -Srinagar National Highway besides some localities of Ramban town that according to them is against Jammu and Kashmir Excise Act and the orders of Supreme Court of India.
In this connection the people of the area have sent written representation to Jammu and Kashmir Excise Commissioner, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Ramban and other responsible officers of the Department, alleging that an influential person having political connection is hell bent upon to open Indian Made Foreign Liquor Shop in this locality where a temple, common purpose spring above all some Municipal wards of old town exist.
The people have complained that the proposed shop that was dispensing and selling liquor at Cafeteria Morh was closed by the Department as per the orders of Supreme Court of India.
The owner in league with Excise officials is trying to open this retail shop in close vicinity of localities, common purpose spring besides two temples on alongside Jammu -Srinagar National Highway. According to them it is against the established norms and rules laid down by the Jammu and Kashmir Excise Department for granting permission to open liquor shop.
