JAMMU, Jan 15: The inhabitants of Panchayats from Sagana, Hillor, Bhutna and Bhandara in Kontwara area of Block Drabshalla in Kishtwar district have expressed concern over the abandoning of the work on Drabshalla to Ohli road by the PWD after impediments were created in construction work by some vested elements and politicians of the area.
The local residents who also gave a representation to Advisor to Governor, K K Sharma have said that they are suffering due to lack of road connectivity in this vast area as some vested elements are not allowing the construction of road for their personnel interests.
They said that it is a pity that though the construction of road has been undertaken over 10 years back it is still incomplete which is also a testimony to the fact that how much interest the Government is taking in the development of far flung and remote areas.
They said earlier work was started from both ends but it was on snail’s pace and now it has been completely abandoned adding to the agony and worries of the people of the area.
They said from one end i.e Chhattar the work has been executed only upto 500 meters while from Drabshalla side near about three kms of road has been constructed out of total length of 30 kms.
The work was abandoned due to hurdles created in its construction by some vested elements including some politicians who want that the area should remain backward throughout. They are causing harassment to contractors as well as laborers engaged on the road with the result contractors were left with no option but to stop the work.
The deputation which was led by Sanjay Parihar, Sarpanch Panchayat Sangna in an appeal to advisor sought his immediate intervention in the matter and urged him to issue directives to concerned authorities to take the lawful action against the people who are creating impediments in construction of road as the same is against the common cause.
