JAMMU Mar 7: J&K Peoples Conference (JKPC) senior vice president and former Minister, Abdul Gani Vakil today while taking more than 50 women political activists from Jammu into the party fold, said that JKPC will always fight to ensure equitable development of all the regions of Jammu and Kashmir as it strengthens the bonds of unity and integrity of the J&K which is the need of the hour.
While addressing the convention Vakil,  said that even after lofty promises of deliverance, good governance, transparency and accountability are missing from the scene and the administration at the district level is behaving like mute spectators. Development is not seen on the ground and is only restricted to the statements and meetings of Government officials.
Urging the Government of India to initiate confidence-building measures to end the widening wedge between the people here and the administration, Vakil said that in order to regain people’s trust and win back their hearts, the Central Government must restore statehood for Jammu and Kashmir, regularise daily wagers working in different departments, release of political prisoners and should take immediate steps to boost tourism and fruit industry before holding Assembly elections as it will definitely help in creating goodwill among the people and  will result in higher participation of the people in coming elections and it will be a befitting reply to the enemies of peace.
Vakil hailed recent decision of Government of regularising 12000 daily wagers in PDD but justice demands that daily wagers in other departments must also be regularised without any delay.
Besides, others who addressed the convention include district president Jammu Mohan Lal, Iqbal Khan and women president Sangeetha.
