THAT KIKAR TREE
That kikar tree
Of Army school Domana,
Under whose shade,
We sat; during childhood days,
Enjoyed life to the fullest
Those were the days of
Innocence, happiness
And life all about
Chocolates and toffees
Our ‘Madam’
Who was everything for us;
Was always admired
Sitting very close to her feet,
Looked keenly her sharp,
Long nails
Coloured beautifully
With glitter on them
Many times, I thought of
Touching them, just to feel
As if they are real or artificial
That kikar tree
While passing by
Is often admired
Bearing yellow flowers
And sometimes laiden with beans;
Makes me remember my childhood days.

You were who, who made me something
from nothing
You were who, who tought me to be brave,
You were who, who tought me not to feel afarid.
I remember your brown glittering eyes.
Who scolded me when i was not right.
In the pit of my stomach,
in the center of my bones, i knew it from
the crown of my head to soles of my feet,
Knew it from the deep in my
empty hest – that you were the best.
You tought me the joy learning,
And kept the lamp of knowledge burning.
You were like a fairy tale,
But the deadlines ended the magic,
When i left the school
Everything turned tragic,
You gave me that education,
that I can never forget,
And this is the thing, which i always accept.

Thy wrath in the thunders
Outcome of our blunders,
Incessant rains and we mortals worry
Isn’t there any end to nautre’s fury,
Hundreds dead millions strangled
The creatures who always wrangled,
Gushing waters will decide our fate
Please save us before it gets too late,
To our rescue the army came
Unlike others who annotated for fame,
Still a daunting task ahead
Unleashed our spearheads,
For thy mercy we pray
Don’t let the faces grow grey!!!
