JAMMU, Nov 27: Insanitation has been prevailing in holy town of Katra, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji shrine, which irked not only the pilgrims reaching the town for onward journey to the Bhawan but also the locals.
Heaps of garbage could be seen lying in Main Bazaar and other markets, which are thronged by the pilgrims as well as the locals, sending wrong impression to the visitors.
Former Katra Municipal Committee president, Ambreesh Magotra charged the Katra Municipality with not paying due focus towards sanitation in Katra town and hoped that a special drive would be launched by the Municipality to ensure cleanliness in the Bazaars, town and other major streets.
