Inspection team recommends closure of 6 Coaching Centers

SRINAGAR, Dec 9: Inspection team of the Education Department today recommended closure of six coaching centers in Bhagat Barzulla and Peer Bagh areas of Srinagar city.
The inspection was conducted on the instructions of Director School Education Kashmir Mir Tariq Ali and the team  comprised of CEO Srinagar, Personnel Officer and OSD Inspection and Monitoring Wing.
The team found that Gestalt School of Physics, Chemistry tutorials by Hakim Showkat, Magray School of Physics, Aims School of Chemistry by Shakil Sir and Shahid Sir’s Willhem School of Mathematics were devoid of infrastructural facilities including basic amenities. Even heating facility was not available and pupil teacher ratio norm was also not maintained.
The team recommended immediate closure of these coaching centers. The inspection team visited another coaching center titled VIPs and reported that infrastructure as per SRO 435 was not available. The team  pointed out that the coaching center is  being run in a shed like accommodation with no heating facility, no waiting hall for girls while as the  students waiting in ques were seen paying an exorbitant fee of Rs 26000 per  head.
The team  expressed dissatisfaction about another coaching center IPS where 150 students were housed in one hall and required pupil teacher ratio was also not maintained. Similar observations have been made about coaching centers like Kashmir Institute of excellence and Vibrant Coaching Center.
The team asked the management of “Kashmir Career Point” to display the qualification of the faculty members on notice board. Show-cause notices have been issued to all coaching centers found violating the norms in vogue.
The team found many teachers/lecturers indulging in coaching business. The team  identified some teachers and recommended administrative action against them.
The team also visited Private Schools which included Presentation Convent Rajbagh, Tyndale Bisco and Mallinson Schools. The team  found that there was no heating facility available to the students.
On the recommendations of inspection team the Director School Education Kashmir Mir Tariq Ali has decided to initiate action against all the coaching centers for not fulfilling SRO 435 of 2010.
