JAMMU, July 20: A seminar was organized by the Institution of Engineers, at Channi Himmat Jammu on `Design & Construction of Water Resistant Durable Roads’ in association with Zydex Industries Pvt Ltd, Vadodra, Gujarat for PMGSY Engineers, in which State Technical Authority (STA) Sanjeev Gupta was chief guest.
DK Khanna, Chief Engineer PMGSY (JKRRDA) Jammu was guest of honour while Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers along with field staff and contractors working in PMGSY Jammu province were also present.
Senior vice president of the Company, Himanshu Aggarwal presented before the audience the salient features of using this technology for construction of rural roads in hilly states like J&K where working season is less due to snowfall, longer rainy season and cold weather conditions. It was also brought to the notice of all the participants that this technology has been approved by Indian Road Congress and Central Road Research Institute, New Delhi.
During deliberation emphasis was laid on the design and execution of flexible pavements with Zydex Technology wherein, it was explained that the main reason for degradation of road pavements is due to seepage of water through the rigid pavements and by using Zydex Technology this recurring reason of degradation of road pavements can be avoided resulting in longer life of road pavements.
