While every citizen wants to have a vehicle of his own these days to make his life easy, it is at the same time becoming a headache for him.
Today, in a family every member wants to have his own car or motor bike.
This has given impetus to car rise in the city. Also the inflow of auto rickshaws, matadors and heavy vehicles is on the increase. But roads and parking slots are insufficient in Jammu and Srinagar cities. The parking slots are biggest headache nowadays for vehicle owners in the cities especially those residing in old city areas of the twin cities.
The vehicle owners residing in these areas are helpless and they are bound to park their vehicles along the road corners, here and there. The live example of this is at famous old Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex, along circular roads and almost every nook and corner of this old city. There are some parking slots in old city but they are insufficient to meet the demand.
The Government should give a serious thought to this problem by providing more parking slots/multi storey parkings, safe parking zones in both the cities so that vehicles should be accommodated in these areas safely. It will also add more and more revenue to the Government.
The administration should hire some private firms to construct multi storey parking slots in Jammu and Srinagar on priority basis as it is the urgent need of the hour. The vehicle owners will prefer to pay reasonable amount for paking, as it will also save their vehicles from damage, thefts and keep them tension free. Will the administration act and bring relief to the public from this menace of parking problems on urgent basis as it is the burning problem for public.
