JAMMU, Feb 20: The insurance employees under the banner of Northern Zone Insurance Employees Association (NZIEA) Srinagar division held demonstration to press for their demands.
The protesting insurance employees demanded settlement of wage revision of employees due since August 1, 2012, one more option for pension to employees of the Corporation and immediate recruitment in the industry.
The demonstration in Srinagar was led by Com AM Tantray, president of the Association and HU Koul, joint secretary of NZIEA, Srinagar Division and in Jammu region, the demonstration was led by Pawan Gupta, divisional secretary and Romesh Chand, joint secretary of NZIEA Srinagar division.
While speaking, Pawan Gupta lambasted the management of LIC of India for not redressing the long pending demands of the insurance employees.
He demanded the wage revision of insurance employees due since August 1, 2012 and wage increase of 40 per cent, adding that these demands are very genuine seeing to the strength of the industry and the worldwide bench marks. He stated that the commitment of the management to give one more option for pension to the left out employees has not yet been fulfilled. Gupta also demanded immediate recruitment in the industry.
He appealed to all the members of the association to participate in the two hours walkout strike on February 23.
Among others, who spoke were Rajesh Gupta, joint secretary, SK Bhat, vice president, Raj Kumar, Dinesh Sharma and Nanak Chand.
Meanwhile, similar demonstrations were also held outside offices of LIC of India at Kathua, Udhampur, RS Pura and Samba.
