JAMMU, Jan 7: LIC employees under the banner of Northern Zone Insurance Employees’ Association held a protest demonstrations in front of its offices in Jammu and Kashmir in preparation of `one day countrywide strike’ on tomorrow (January 8) against the economic policies and the communal agenda of the NDA Government.
More than 20 crore workers across the country are expected to participate in the strike called by 10 Central Trade Unions and Independent Federations including Insurance and Banking employees.
The demonstration at Jammu was led by Pawan Gupta, Divisional secretary NZIEA Srinagar Division and at Srinagar by AM Tantray, president of the Association. Speaking on the occasion outside LIC office at Rail Head Complex Jammu, Gupta lambasted against the economic policies of the NDA Govt which are anti-people, anti-workers, anti-farmers, anti-women and anti-youth. He pressed the NDA Govt for concrete measures for arresting rising prices of essential commodities, creation of decent and new jobs, minimum wage of Rs 21000 pm and minimum pension of Rs 10000 pm, stoppage of sale of PSU shares, privatization of PSU through PPP and outsourcing, stopping of contractualization of jobs, waiver of farm loans, remunerative prices to farm products, stopping of amendments to labour laws and strict implementation of existing Labour Laws, social security coverage and pension to all.
They Association stressed for early settlement of wage revision of LIC and GIC employees w.e.f 01/08/2017, recruitment of Class-4 cadre in LIC, scrapping of Defined Contribution Pension Scheme and implementation Defined Benefit Pension Scheme for all, opposes Govt.’s move to list LIC in stock exchange, to hike FDI in insurance sector, increasing retail Inflation, privatisation of Public Sector.
Pawan Gupta and Tantray appealed the insurance employees to make Jan 8 strike a big success.
