10th Commandants Conference concludes

JAMMU, Apr 25: Two-day Conference of Commandants of Armed and IRP Battalions concluded at Armed Police Headquarters this afternoon. The Principal Secretary (Home), B. R. Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion and he delivered valedictory address on ethics and leadership.
In his address, Mr. Sharma highlighted the results of effective and ethic leadership and factors responsible for maintaining such leadership. He said that integrity, motivation, impartiality, proper monitoring and balanced delivery of justice amongst the subordinates are the factors of effective leadership.
Citing some examples from the pages of history, he said that an effective leadership can lead his subordinates towards right direction to fetch the desired results. He said that the conference provides opportunity to the participants to deliberate on various professional issues and enhance their efficiency. It also provides a platform to take stock of the achievements and short comings.
Appreciating the role of armed contingents in maintaining the law and order in the State, he said that due to the dint of their dedication 2011 passed peacefully. He emphasised to remain vigilant in future to maintain peace in the State. He stressed upon the commandants that while taking the decisions in the field, they should ensure that people don’t feel uncomfortable in their day-to-day life.
The Principal Secretary underscored the importance of armed battalions in tackling the emergent situations and ensuring law and order in the State. He stressed for close liaison among all ranks and people’s cooperation for effective policing.
Mr. Sharma, hoped that the decisions taken in the Conference will prove result oriented and help the participants to make the decision in the field.
Earlier, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), K. Rajindra Kumar, apprised the chief guest and the participants about the activities being carried out by the battalions for making the force result oriented force. He said that the participants deliberated on various issues during the conference to enhance the performance and adopt themselves for meeting the coming challenges. He threw light on various professional issues which were discussed in the conference.
Among others, the concluding session was attended by IGPsG. S. Salathia and Rauf-ul-Hassan, DIGs Dr. K. K. Saini, A. Q. Manhas, P. Namgiyal and Johny William, SO to ADGP Armed, M. A. Untoo, all Commandants of armed and IRP battalions and other police officers.
