JAMMU, Dec 25: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh today called for intensified search and cordon operations to flush out the militants in Kashmir and collective efforts to tackle any situation including the subversive activities.
Dilbag’s statement came just a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah held high-level review of security situation in Jammu and Kashmir with top brass of Home Ministry and J&K. Singh also attended the meeting.
Presiding over a high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) in Srinagar, the summer capital of the Union Territory, this afternoon, Dilbag called upon the officers to ensure intensified search and cordon operations to flush out the militants
He emphasized on collective measures to tackle any situation and subversive act by the terrorists and their masters across the border.
“Although we have got successes across Jammu and Kashmir against the terrorists, yet we should continue our actions against them with coordinated strategies to ensure long lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir,” the police chief said.
He added that training in tackling law and order situations has to be upgraded to sharpen the skills of the police personnel to meet any challenge.
Asserting that public cooperation has helped in making our efforts fruitful in mai-ntaining law and order, Dilbag directed the officers that while dealing with any situation they should ensure that law-abiding people are not put to any inconvenience during their day-to-day activities.
The Director General of Police reiterated that the support of people was essential and more and more public cooperation should be ensured by prioritizing community-based programmes. He directed the officers that all possible help should be extended to the public as and when required.
The meeting deliberated on various important issues related to the internal security. The officers representing different districts briefed the DGP about the measures taken on different fronts with regard to safety and security of people in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by ADGP CID Dr B Srinivas, IGP Kashmir, S P Pani, DIG Central Kashmir Range V K Birdi, DIG North Kashmir Range Suleman Choudhary, all district SSPs, SSP Special Branch Kashmir, SSP Counter Insurgency (Kashmir), SP Operations Srinagar and other senior police officers.
