Inter-district gang of bike lifters busted

JAMMU, Oct 13: Police in Miran Sahib area here today claimed today that they have busted a gang of inter-district bike lifters and recovered from their possession several stolen bikes.
A police spokesperson said that on October 5 and October 11, 2023, two persons-Joginder Singh son of Sain Dass of Krishna Nagar, Miran Sahib, and Rimpy Bala daughter of Girdhari Lal of Dhindey Kalan, Miran Sahib, Jammu-approached Miran Sahib Police Station, claiming theft of their bikes.
Acting on their written complaints, he said, a case FIR number 143/2023 under section 379 of the IPC was registered at Police Station Miran Sahib and investigation started.
During investigation, the police spokesperson further said that a party of Police Station Miran Sahib led by SDPO RS Pura, Nikhil Gogna, assisted by SHO Miran Sahib, Inspector Bopinder Singh, and PSIs Maroof Ahmed and Mohammad Altaf, under overall supervision of SP Headquarters Jammu, Ramnish Gupta, arrested one person with the help of human and technological interventions. The accused was identified as Farooq Ali of Simbal Camp, Ward Number 4, Miran Sahib.
During sustained questioning, he said, the accused confessed to his involvement in the crime and on his disclosure, the stolen motorcycles as well as some other bikes were recovered from his possession.
The accused also claimed during investigation that he would sell the stolen bikes to one Ranjit Singh alias Shotu of Thathi, Seshwan, Rajbagh, said the police spokesperson, adding that the other accused has also been arrested and further investigation into the case taken up.
