Inter-district vehicle lifter arrested by Janipur police

JAMMU, Dec 12: Janipur police today arrested inter-district vehicle lifter from holy town of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi in tehsil Katra, district Reasi.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged by Mohit, son of Harnam Singh, a resident of Lakkar Mandi with police station Janipur regarding theft of his car bearing registration number JK02AW 9568 from outside his residence.
Accordingly, a case under FIR number 197/14 under Section 379 RPC was registered with police station Janipur and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, it came to fore that the vehicle was spotted in holy town of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi in tehsil Katra, district Katra.
After the information, about the stolen vehicle, a police team from police station Janipur was dispatched to Katra. The police team recovered the stolen vehicle the registration number of which was changed by the accused and also arrested the inter-district vehicle lifter.
The accused has been identified as Niraj Gupta alias Shanty, son of Subash Gupta, a resident of ward number 2, Railway Road, Katra.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Janipur police station Inspector Manzoor Ahmed Kohli made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Vivek Shekhar, SP City Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
