JAMMU, Dec 12: Vichar Kranti Manch Int’l and the Diocese of Jammu-Srinagar jointly organized an ‘Inter Religious Meet – Peace is the fruit of Religious Tolerance’ at St Mary’s Garrison Church, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
Kavinder Gupta,   Speaker J&K State Legislative Assembly was the chief guest on the occasion while Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University, Jammu, presided over the function.  I D Soni, State Commissioner Bharat Scouts & Guides, was the guest of honour  and Ivan Pereira, Bishop of Jammu-Srinagar Diocese, was the special guest on the occasion.
Speakers, mostly religious heads of different religions, gave their views on the subject. First of all Fr Joe Kalathil S J  spoke on the importance of peace with respect to Christianity point of view. Prof  Vishwamurti Shastri, Ex Principal,  Ranbir Sanskrit Vidyalaya Kot Bhalwal and President Awardee,  gave sermons on Hinduism while  Jaspal Singh Mangal, former Director Agriculture and Executive of Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, spoke on Sikhism.  Sakindra Jain, president Women Wing of VKMI (Talab Tillo) and ex president Shraman Sanskriti Manch on Jainism and Dr Aashiq Raza Malik, founder president, Attitude Change Int’l, gave his views on the subject with reference to Islam.
Dr R R Khajuria, founder VKMI, I P Sharma of Parcharak Nirankari Mission, Ram Gopal Sharma, Chairman NSK High School (Sawera NGO) and Saudagar Shah Gupta, Yoga Experts, gave some suggestions on the subject. Bishop Pereira expressed his views on utility of peace. I D Soni gave useful ideas in maintaining peace in the society.  Ashok Aima stressed on the need of the initiation of peace among the youth and Kavinder Gupta appreciated the efforts of the VKMI to organize such useful events on such very important topic.
On the occasion, representatives of different NGOs and social associations were honored.
