Inter-state exposure visit of ASHAs, supervisory cadre flagged off

JAMMU, July 8: Mission Director National Health Mission (NHM), Dr. Yashpal Sharma today flagged off an interstate exposure visit of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and ASHA Supervisory cadre of J&K to Panchkula, Haryana.
Dr. Sanjay Turkey, Chief Medical Officer Jammu; Dr. Narinder Bhatial, State Nodal Officer, Quality Assurance, NHM and officers from State Health Society, NHM were also present on the occasion.
The exposure visit will be there till July 13 and is being organized by NHM J&K in collaboration with NHM Haryana.
A team of about 90 participants including ASHAs, ASHA Facilitators, Block ASHA Coordinators, District ASHA Coordinators and District Programme Management Units of J&K shall visit Haryana as it is a State leading in ASHA programmes.
The J&K team will observe various activities in the community processes like Village Health and Nutrition Days, functioning of Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committees, Home Based New Born Care, Gram Sabha, functioning of Panchayati Raj Institutions and various other best practices.
Further best innovations in the health care at grass root and community level will also be observed so that the same are replicated in our State for providing the best health care in the State. ASHAs shall also visit the villages where ASHAs have been given the status of SHO to monitor PC and PNDT to save the girl child in the State.
It is pertinent to mention here that the unique institutionalization of ASHA Cadre of J&K has been awarded by Government of India and Government of Rajasthan as the best structure in the country.
