Inter-State gang of robbers busted, notorious criminals arrested

JAMMU, Sept 18:  In a major breakthrough District Police Kathua achieved a major success in busting an Inter-State gang of robbers by arresting a notorious criminal along with his two associates and recovering two pistols with ammunition.
Tightening the noose around the criminals in Kathua district, Rajbagh Police  headed by SHO P/S Rajbagh, Inspector Naresh Sharma under the supervision of SDPO Border Chadwal,  M.L Kaith and SP Kathua,  Mohan Lal, while on patrolling received a reliable information that the notorious Inter-State gangster, Sham Murti @ Shamu, S/o Om Parkash of Hamirpur tehsil Hiranagar district Kathua along with his two associates is roaming on Hamirpur Garnairi link road and he is armed with deadly weapons.
The Police party immediately swung into action and apprehended the said gangster and his two associates who were riding on a motorcycle and recovered one Pistol with 4 live cartridges and one Desi Katta with 3 live cartridges from their possession.
The Police said Sham Murti and his 2 associates,  Hardev Singh @ Bablu S/o Payar Singh R/o W. No. 7 Kathua and Yudhveer Singh S/o Gaseet Singh R/o Khanpur tehsil Hiranagar have been arrested. The arms,  ammunition and motorcycle has been seized.
Sham Murti had been operating in the Union Capital since 2009-2010 besides remaining involved in the criminal cases in Kathua district also, police said. Recently in the month of July and August he was involved in two cases of robbery and one case of bike theft at Delhi and a case under Indian Arms Act at P/S Indora Himachal Pardesh stands registered against him, police added.
Police said his other three associates have been already arrested but this notorious gangster remained at large despite strenuous efforts by Delhi and Himachal Pardesh Police who conducted frequent raids at his native place and at Jammu but the gangster along with his other associates remained at large.
Six FIRs under Sections 341/325, 341/323, 341/323/148, 341/323/364/382, 341/147/382, 279/337/304 RPC and 3/25 under Arms Act stand registered against him in PS Kathua in the year 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 20012. Besides an FIR U/S 457/387/392 RPC, 7/25 Arms Act stands registered against him in Police Station Rajbagh, Police said.
It said six FIRs also stand registered against him under various crimes and Indian Arms Act in various police stations of Delhi from 2010 to 2013 and one FIR also stands registered against him under Indian Arms Act in P/S Indora, HP.
Police said moreover his associate Hardev Singh who too was arrested is involved in two heinous cases registered in PS Kathua under RPC Section 4/25 Arms Act and 302/307/447/147/148 RPC 4/25 Act.
