UDHAMPUR, Sept 1: Udhampur Police today arrested an inter-state narcotics smuggler and seized 36 kg poppy straw from his possession.
Reports said that Police team from Police Post Roundomail, stopped a Mahindra Xylo bearing registration number PB08CK-8555 at Naka Point Roundomail. During checking, two gunny bags containing approximately 36 kg of poppy straw like substance were recovered from the vehicle following which Police arrested the driver .
During questioning, the driver revealed his identity as Ranjit Singh, son of Late Darshan Singh of Manahana, Tehsil Garh Shanker, District Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
Police also seized the vehicle along with the recovered poppy straw and registered a case vide FIR No. 370/2024 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act in Police Station Udhampur.
