JAMMU, Nov 22: Gangyal police busted inter-state narcotic smuggling racket with the arrest of two persons along with ganja.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Gangyal police station laid a naka and asked two pedestrians to stop for checking as they were wandering under suspicious circumstances.
On seeing police team, the persons tried to escape from the spot, but police cops chased and nabbed them near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 3 kilograms ganja and arrested both the narcotic smugglers, who have been identified as Santosh Kumar, son of Suresh Sahu, a resident of Bihar, at present Gangyal and Ravi Kumar, son of Inderjeet Sahi, a resident of Patna, at present Gangyal.
During questioning, the accused revealed that they are indulged in this narcotic smuggling trade since long and use to bring the narcotics from Punjab and Rajasthan. They revealed that they had dressed as migrant labourers so as to deceive police.
With their arrest, the names of some other narcotic smugglers have surfaced and more arrests are likely to be made in near future.
A case under FIR Number 174/15 under Section 8/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Gangyal police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal police station Inspector Aejaz Wani and SDPO South Sachin Gupta made the arrest under the supervision of SP South Shaazad Salaria and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
