Interaction on ‘State Education Policy’ held

JAMMU, Jan 23:  The State Government has decided to start a consultative process with a view to take on board ideas, experiences, inputs and suggestions to frame the proposed “Vision Document-2025” envisaging a comprehensive School Education Policy.
The suggestions would be sought from the public at large and stake-holders like educationists, teachers, students, parents, NGOs, research-fellows and educational institutions in particular.
The vision document (Education Policy), to be framed by a nine member panel of experts, will spell-out main objectives, goals and implementation strategies to be pursued during this period with specific timeline for each. The Panel has been assigned to address the issues of medium of instructions and usage of regional languages in the School Curriculum.
Member, National Minority Commission Prof. Farida Khan is heading the panel, while as Masood Choudhary, Prof. Rama Kant Agnihotri, Prof.Rekha Choudhary, Prof.  A G Madhosh, Dr.Nandani Manjrekar, G N Masoodi, Jamal Kidwai and Sonam Wangchuk are its members.
In this regard an interactive session of the Expert Panel chaired by Secretary Education H K Singh was held to deliberate on State Education Policy here today.
Referring to constitution of State School Education Advisory Board in terms of Section 22 of the Jammu & Kashmir State School Education Act-2002, the Secretary said that in the very first meeting of the Advisory Board, under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, who is Minister Incharge of School Education, it was decided for formation of Education Policy for the State and a Panel of experts was constituted for the purpose.
Mr. Singh said that as a next step a consultative process would be set in motion with a view to take on board ideas, experiences, inputs and suggestions from the public at large and stake-holders like educationists, teachers, students, parents, NGOs, research-fellows and educational institutions in particular.
