JAMMU, Nov 26: An International Conference on “Emerging Trends in Biomedical Research in the New Millennium ” is being held on November 29 and 30 by the Department of Biochemistry in association with Indian Academy of Biomedical Sciences at Government Medical College Jammu.
Eminent scientists and doctors from across the country and abroad are expected to attend the conference. Dr AS Bhatia, organizing secretary of the BIOCON – 2016, revealed this while addressing media persons here today.
He said that the main objective of the conference is to bring together basic research scientists and clinicians on a common platform to foster in depth discussions among them for better understanding and improving therapeutic & diagnostic technology for various diseases affecting humanity
“Special guest lecture will be delivered by Prof (Dr) JFG (Joski) Bunders (Director, Professor Biology & Society) Head Department Biology & Society VU University, Amsterdam, Netherlands on the topic Prioritizing Biomedical research from a patient perspective”, Dr Bhatia added.
About 300 doctors from all the neighboring states are expected to attend the conference. The conference has been registered with the Jammu and Kashmir State Medical Council for Eight plus Three Credit Hours which will help the junior Doctors in their academic achievements.
Dr Bhatia further disclosed that this scientific bonanza will give a golden opportunity to the faculty, Post-Graduate and Under-Graduate students to learn the emerging new techniques in the field of diagnosis and treatment of various diseases along with getting them familiar with the latest in the field of research.
He further informed that Bali Bhagat, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Aeisa Naquas, Minister of State for Health and Medical Education, Sat Paul Sharma, State BJP president and MLA Jammu west, Dr HK Bhandari Commissioner/ Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Danesh Rana, Inspector General of Police and Dr Zahid Gillani, Principal and Dean, Government Medical College Jammu will grace the opening ceremony.
