KATHUA, Aug 5: The Sikh community members and the people from various other faiths accorded grand reception to historic International Nagar Kirtan this morning at Lakhanpur, which has been started from Nankana Sahib in Pakistan, the birth place of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, on his 550th Birth Anniversary celebrations.

The present living generation is truly blessed as it is during their lifetime that 550th birth anniversary of Baba Nanak Dev Ji is being celebrated and they should whole heartedly submit themselves to the Sikh philosophy espoused by this great Guru, to show their respect and commitment to the path shown by Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
On this occasion Mahant Manit Singh Ji of Dera Nangali Sahib, Sant Tejwant Singh Ji from Sant Pura Danna, State Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee members led by T S Wazir, DGPC members from Jammu, Kathua and other parts besides members of various Sikh bodies including SGPC Amritsar, Sikh United Front led by S S Wazir, SAD, BKNS, SWS etc were also present besides Sikh community members and others.
The International Nagar Kirtan proceeded from Lakhanpur to Jammu under the supervision of Mahanat Manjeet Singh Ji Shiromani Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch Sant Tejwant Singh Ji Sant Pura Dana. The peoples from all walks of life gathered along the roadside at various points and welcomed the Nagar Kirtan. The Sangat was chanting the slogans with religious fervor and gaiety. The stalls were also installed at various places.
The peoples were showering flowers on the decorated `Palki’ along the roadside. The political leaders from all the political parties also participated in the Nagar Kirtan. The Nagar Kirtan culminated at Gurdwara Gurdwara Fateh Singh Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. It has been unanimously prayed for the welfare of the humanity as well as cordial relation between India and Pakistan. It is historical event that after partition in 1947 the peoples of two countries met each other in cordial atmosphere due to the positive initiatives of Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan.
The other dignitaries who participated in the Nagar Kirtan included Raman Bhalla Ex-Minister, S. Manjeet Singh Ex-Minister, S. Charanjeet Singh-MLC, Vikram Randhawa MLC, Sudershan Singh Wazir, Dayal Singh Wazir, Darbinder Singh, Mohinder Singh, Surinder Singh Kala, Gajjan Singh, Narinder Singh Raina, Kulwant Singh Surjeet Singh Kuku, Harpreet Singh Chotu, Prof Yudhvir Singh, Kuldeep Kaur, Gurmeet Kour, . Paramjeet Singh, Ravinder Singh, Raja Singh and Paramjeet Singh Raina.
