International Scientific Conference on Nicholas Roerich concludes

JAMMU, Oct 13: The four days International Scientific and Practical Conference on the well known Russian Archaeologist and a credible painter Nicholas Roerich held from October 11 to October 13, in St. Petersburg concluded today. During the conference International Nicholas Roerich Award was conferred to the well known Professor Lokesh Chandra, at the State Hermitage the hub of international cultural events of St. Petersburg attended by a galaxy of writers and scholars from twelve countries. India in the event was represented by Naresh Kumar, Consul at Consulate General of India, St. Petersburg, Russian Federation.
On the occasion Nawang Tsering Shakspo, a historian and scholar from Leh presented a well researched paper titled, Ladakh in context of Nicolas Roerich visit in the year 1925. It also came to light that to strengthen friendly relationship between India and Russia a number of cultural events are due to be held both in India and Russia under the topic Russia and India: two magnets. It is to be noted that Nicolas Roerich proceeded on the Central Asia expedition in the search of the mythical world Shambhala from Ladakh.
