JAMMU, Sept 10: Two days International Urdu Conference organized by the Department of Urdu Government Post Graduate College Rajouri in collaboration with National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), New Delhi, on the topic “Taraqi Pasand Urdu Afsana Ka Aghaz-O-Irtaqa” concluded today.
The conference was an initiative of Dr Javaid A Qazi, Principal Government Post Graduate College Rajouri, Dr MK Waqar, HoD Urdu, Dr Abdul Haq Naimi, Convener of the Conference, Mohammad Jahangir and Dr Zaheer Ahmed.
In the inaugural session, Dr Irtaza Karim, Director, National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), New Delhi, was the chief guest whereas Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, DDC Rajouri was the guest of honour and Dr Javed A Qazi, Principal of the College presided over the function.
A series of literary and technical sessions were conducted during the conference in which scholars, experts and creative writers from the world of Urdu Fiction presented their research papers. The presentations were followed by question answer sessions which proved to be very fruitful to ignite the minds of the young writers and student community.
Several dignitaries who chaired various sessions included Prof. Emeritus Dr Qadous Javed, a renowned litterateur and critic, Prof Shab-ud-Din from Qatter, Sikandar Hayat Khan, a scholar from Jamaya Azhar Egypt and others. Three books were also released on the occasion–Prof Qadous Javed’s “Iqbal ki Takhliqiat”; Dr Abdul Haq Naimi’s “Matala-e-Aazad” and Abstract of the conference.
Principal of the College Prof Javaid Ahmed Qazi discussed in detailed the relevance of the subject and stressed upon youth to study and develop fiction in such a way that it may be useful to humanity for all the times to come.
