International Women’s Day celebrated across Jammu

JAMMU, Mar 6: Various events were organized in Jammu to celebrate the International Women’s Day on Monday.
FICCI FLO Jammu-Kashmir & Ladakh (JKL) organized the “Trailblazer” awards ceremony, where exceptional women achievers from different fields were honored.
The event was held at the Hari Niwas Palace, and Ritu Singh, the founding chairperson of FICCI FLO JKL, started the ceremony with the Durga stotram “Aigiri Nandini” to celebrate the Shakti within.
The recipients shared their inspiring journeys, making the event informative and engaging.
Another event was organized by the State Bank of India, Rural Self Employment Training Institute (SBI RSETI) Jammu, where around 60 trained candidates attended.
The Director RSETI gave an inspirational speech regarding equality and respect for women at home and workplace.
Successful women entrepreneurs were honored, and certificates were distributed to the recently trained candidates from the National Academy of RUDSETI Bangalore. The candidates were encouraged to start their own ventures and become successful entrepreneurs.
Central Sanskrit University also organized International Women’s Day celebrations, where Ritu Singh, a Jammu royal family member, was the chief guest.
The program was presided over by the Director of the campus, Prof Madan Mohan Jha. Vice- Chancellor of the University, Prof Srinivasa Varkhedi started Nari Shakti Puraskar, under which women teachers and employees were honored.
Various competitions were organized for girl students of the campus during Women’s Day week, such as group dance and solo performances.
The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Reasi also organized a legal awareness program at Government Degree College Dadoora, Katra as a part of the pan India program on Legal Awareness launched by the National Commission for Women (NCW) in collaboration with NALSA.
The program was aimed at educating women about the constitutional and legal safeguards available to them and the role of District Legal Services Authorities in addressing women’s grievances.
The event was attended by approximately 60 women students from Government Degree College Dadoora, Katra, as well as the Principal and faculty members of the college.
A Women Celebration Week was organised at Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Udhampur as well, where Brigadier Gurmeet Singh Shan (Retired), who also happens to be the Director Sainik Welfare Department, greeted the women guests and Veer Naaris.
Zila Sainik Welfare Officer in his address said that the Director Sainik Welfare Department has been personally monitoring and meeting with the ESM/Veer Naaris in his endeavour to know their problems. Thereafter, he apprised the gathering about the existing schemes run by RSB and KSB. He also asked the gathering to update their pension documents.
The gathering was also addressed by a team of Medical Officers of Government Medical College Udahmpur. A lecture on women empowerment was also given by the NCC cadet of Government Degree College Udhampur.
International Women Day was also celebrated with great enthusiasm in the Group Centre Jammu campus. A cultural program was organised to mark the day with enthusiastic performances by the girls and women of the centre.
The program was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp of special guest, Neet Verma, advocate, who happens to be the State President of Women’s Human Rights Mission International Council of Jurists, Prem Chandra Gupta, Commandant, and Rajesh Kumar, Deputy Commandant.
In her address, Neeta Verma emphasized on women empowerment, and made the women aware about their rights.
International Women’s Day was also celebrated in the premises of Brahma Kumaris Om Shanti Meditation Center, Jammu.
Former Minister Priya Sethi was the Chief Guest on the occasion, who highlighted the important role played by Brahma Kumari sisters to uplift the society in general and women in particular.
Chairperson and incharge Brahma Kumaris J&K/Ladakh said that women power can transform this world of chaos into peace.
“If women inculcate values like pace, love, satisfaction then every family could be a happy family,” she said.
Guest of Honour, Dr Shashi Sudan Sharma, Principal GMC Jammu, also spoke in length about how women can transform the world from chaos to peace.
KD Multi Speciality also organised a function to facilitate women from different sections of the society on International Women’s Day.
As per a statement, the function was graced by Ritu Singh, Yasha Mudgal, Priya Sethi, and Ranjeet Kour along with other eminent ladies from different sections of the society.
The statement said that the Women Day was celebrated in the hospital with an aim of promoting health awareness among the women folk.
