Interstate gang busted, 7 stolen vehicles recovered

JAMMU, Mar 23: Police today achieved a major success by recovering 4 stolen vehicles from an interstate gang operating in the jurisdiction of Police Station Satwari and 3 vehicles from a thief in the jurisdiction of Police Post Canal Road.
“Acting on specific information regarding involvement of two persons namely Ram Narayan son of Kalu Ram of Bhanuja (Rajasthan) and Nitin Sharma son of Ashwani Sharma of Mehmoodpur (Haryana) who were living in rented accommodations at Jeevan Nagar and Sanjay Nagar respectively, in illegal trade of stolen vehicles, a case FIR Number 52/2022 U/S 420/467/468/471/2/120B IPC was registered at Police Station Satwari and investigation started,” a police spokesman said.
Accordingly, a team of Police Station Satwari under the supervision of SDPO South Sachit Sharma was constituted. The team led by SHO Police Station Satwari Inspector Sameer Jeelani did strenuous efforts and managed to arrest both the accused, who during sustained questioning, confessed their involvement in the theft case and on their disclosure, 4 stolen vehicles along with a lot of fake documents were recovered from their possession.
The recovered stolen vehicles were Hyndai Creta (HR 51BH 1059), Maruti Baleno (UK3B 9619), Maruti Brezza (MH12NU 4392) and Maruti Desire (HR26DF 1397). “The accused used to bring stolen vehicles from outside J&K and then used fake Registration Numbers/plates and fake documentation to sell the those in J&K,” he said , adding, thorough questioning is going on and more arrests are likely to come.
Meanwhile, Nowabad police also arrested a thief and recovered a stolen vehicle on his disclosure. Acting on a theft complaint regarding a vehicle under the jurisdiction of Police Post Canal Road, a case FIR Number 30/22 U/s 379 IPC was registered at Police Station Nowabad and investigation started. A police team led by SHO Police Station Nowabad Inspector Vijay Kumar assisted by I/C PP Canal Road PSI Ishfaq Ahmed Kasana after making strenuous efforts rounded up a suspect namely Vishal Kumar alias Bobby son of Diwan Chand of Jalochak.
“During intensive questioning, the accused confessed his involvement in the theft cases and on his disclosure three stolen vehicles along with a master key used to unlock these vehicles, was recovered from his possession. The recovered stolen vehicles were Maestro scooty (JK02BN-5338), Yamaha FZ motorcycle (JK02AX-8828) and Super Splendor bike (JK02BX-6955).
The overall arrests and recoveries were made under the supervision of SP South Mamta Sharma and SP North Kulbir Handa. Further investigation of the cases was going on.
