JAMMU, Jan 3: All J&K +2 Lecturers ‘ Forum has urged Lieutenant Governor J&K Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to provide funds at all districts treasuries to clear huge liabilities of pensioners and other needy employees on account of GPF, Gratuities, commutation and leave encashment.
In a statement, jointly issued by the forum president Pardeep Singh Rakwal, RS Salathia – Chairman, Ghar Singh -Gen Secretary, Gh Nabi Malik – Legal Advisor, R K Padroo and B K Tickoo, the forum leaders expressed resentment and surprise over the unnecessary delay in the payment of hard earned savings of pensioners and employees of the UT. They said that the pensioners and employees were getting harassed as they were being made to wait for almost a year for their own saved money and are deprived of interest on the unpaid money.
The Lecturers Forum divulged that so many pensioners have approached the Forum leaders for its intervention as they have huge liabilities at their hands like marriage of their daughters/ sons, surgery of their family members and construction/renovation of their dilapidated houses but despite of lapse of considerable time, the pensioners/employees are empty-handed due to non- availability of funds at the treasuries.
Through the press statement, the Forum has requested Lieutenant Governor , Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene and issue necessary directions to the Finance Department to clear the pendency of pensioners/ employees in the shape of GPF, Gratuity, Leave Encashment and Commutation so that senior citizens are not put to more sufferings and hardships.
Meanwhile the Forum president for Kishtwar district, Pardeep Koul has urged the Govt of J&K UT to release 3 percent DA installment due from July 2024. He expressed displeasure over unnecessary delay in the release of said installment of DA . He said that the Central Govt is likely to release another DA installment due from January 2025 but unfortunately, the J&K employees are yet to be paid the previous installment of DA.
