JAMMU, Nov 14: Intex Technologies, one of the leading consumer electronics major, has tied-up with Livelihood Initiatives for Empowerment, a New Delhi based Trust working in the skill development sector for wage employment, self-employment and entrepreneurship, to set-up the ‘Intex-Life Entrepreneur Development Center’ in Jammu region, for training youth.
As a pilot project, Intex, this year is focusing on 2 districts of Jammu Region – Jammu & Samba and will recruit 40 youngsters from there. The local youths (of both genders) will be trained in the field of Vision Care & Vision Correction and empowered to become self-dependent, in the process helping in building entrepreneurs, thus contributing to the National Skill Development Program.
Intex will provide free training at its 2 decade old factory premises in Bari Brahmana in equipping these youth in Vision care. Training will involve classroom and practical session on vision screening, identification of refractive error and dispensing optical lens with frames.

LIFE will first provide the required skills, training and certification over a period of two months and then help them setup their own enterprise in the form of a small optical outlet. The youth being trained and certified as entrepreneurs, will walk the entrepreneurship road within three months of certification.
