RAMBAN, July 20: Batote police nabbed intra-state narcotic smuggler and recovered 10 kilograms of poppy straw from his possession.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police team from Batote police station laid a naka at Baghu Nallah and signaled a motorcycle bearing registration number JK03A-5451 to stop for checking.
On seeing police team, the motorcyclist tried to escape but was chased and intercepted near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 10 kilograms of poppy straw and arrested the intra-state narcotic smuggler.
The accused has been identified as Tanvir Ahmad, son of Shabir Hussain of Chhampa, Batote.
A case under FIR number 77/15 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Batote police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Batote police station Inspector Arun Kotwal made the arrest under the supervision of Randeep Kumar, SSP Ramban.
