JAMMU, July 13: State unit of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) today strongly projected the issues of the workers at a provincial level meeting held at PCC headquarters here today.
PCC senior vice president and former minister, Sham Lal Sharma was the chief guest while State president of INTUC, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over.
INTUC State chief apprised the PCC vice president of the problems being faced by the working class in the State, belonging to different sections and categories of the workers and employees. He disclosed that issue of pending wages is pending for the two years. Regularization of all casual labours of various departments of the State, revival of closed Public Sector units, release of pending salaries of ReT teachers, stipend for unemployed educated youth, allotment of space to the Rehari and Phari workers, removal of pay anomalies between Govt and PSU employees are the issues which need immediate attention of the Government.
INTUC leader said that NHPC reporting office which was functioning in J&K should not be shifted to Himachal Pradesh. He also urged upon the State Govt to adhere to the norms of the parity with the Central Govt employees, while implementing the 7th Pay Commission recommendations. The need to enhance the Medical allowance of the employees and pensioners at par with the Central employees was also stressed.
Sharma urged upon the PCC leader to take up the issues of the working class in the State at appropriate levels to get these problems addressed. General secretary Raghubir Singh Chib also projected issues of the workers.
Speaking on the occasion PCC leader assured that Congress party would remain on the forefront to raise the voice regarding the genuine demands of the working class in the State. He said that working class is the strength of Nation and have contributed tremendously for the progress and prosperity of the country.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting included RS Reen, Farooq Ahmed Choudhary, Amrik Singh Sasan, Madan Lal, Sumit Magotra, JL Thakur Rashpal Singh, Jeevan Singh and Som Dutt.
