Investigate shady recruitment of nurses for DRDO Hospital: JKAP

JAMMU, June 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP), general secretary, Vikram Malhotra today demanded investigation into the ambiguous selection process of nurses for DRDO’s temporary 500-bedded hospital at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.
“The selection process of nurses for DRDO is faulty as experienced and deserving people were allegedly could not get chance in three days of time to fill-up the application forms and it has given rise to suspicion on the selection process which is believed to be biased by the applicants and people of Jammu,” said Vikram Malhotra.
In the backdrop of the allegations, he said, the selection process should be investigated and the deserving candidates with experience should be given opportunity to serve the covid positive people at DRDO’s temporary hospital. Keeping aside experienced people, freshers were taken and `clause of experience’ was removed cleverly just to accommodate favourites, he alleged.
“The questions on selection process was raised especially when only three days time was given to the applicants and that too, the applicants had to file their application manually despite Covid-19’s spike in Jammu,” alleged Malhotra.
On the other side in Kashmir, he said that the applicants were given seven days of time period to file applications for the advertised posts of nurses and the candidates were given opportunity to file their applications via online unlike Jammu where candidates physically filled their forms.
“The selection process should have been transparent. But the selection process needs to be investigated and the deserving candidates should be given a chance to serve even as the job is being given on contract basis for a maximum of three years,” he added.
He also demanded that “Govt should explain which policy has been adopted in Jammu for recruitment of nurses. Therefore, the shady selection process should be investigated and cancelled.”
He further said that the vaccination drive in Jammu City should be conducted with the consultation of the elected representatives. The drive should be conducted ward wise to ensure vaccination of 100 percent population.
