JAMMU, June 28: Sikh United Front, an amalgam of various Sikh organizations, while welcoming the initiative of Prime Minister and Home Minister for setting into motion the democratic process after delimitation, demanded that as special case Sikhs should be made party to this process and be invited for any further discussion and negotiation.
Talking to media-persons here today, chairman of the Front, Sudershan Singh Wazir said that by and large the Sikh community in J&K, belong to the refugee families of PoK, who were forced to migrate to this part of J&K during 1947 and the reorganization Act has reserved 24 Assembly seats for PoK as earlier also this reservation of Assembly seats was existing.
“Now, since the delimitation process is going on, the refugees of PoK want at least 8 to 10 Assembly seats to be reserved for them, other than the existing number of Assembly seats so that a proper representation to PoK residents is also available,” he added.
