JAMMU, Aug 17: To create awareness among masses on various dental specialties including Orthodontics, Indian Orthodontic Society (IOS) organized a car rally in Jammu.
The rally was flagged off at 7 in the morning by chief guest, Dr Udham Dass Sharma (SDM North Jammu) in collaboration with guest of honour Ramesh Arora (former MLC), Principal of Dental College Dr Rakesh Gupta and Deputy Director Dentistry Dr Sanjay Sharma from Shri Raghunath Temple Mandir. The rally after passing through City Chowk, Shalimar Road, Indira Chowk, BC Road and Amphalla Chowk culminated at Hari Niwas palace.
The event was led by chief organizer of the rally, Dr Akshay Gupta (HoD Orthodontics) of Indira Gandhi Government Dental College Jammu and all the Orthodontic specialists of Jammu and neighbouring towns participated in the rally. Prominent Orthodontists present were Dr Rishabh Gupta, Dr Abhimanyu Rohmetra, Dr Rohit Gupta, Dr Anur Gupta, Dr Aseem Sharma, Dr Tanushree, Dr Amit Khajuria, Dr Simran Kour, Dr Manjeet Singh, Dr Vidushi Koul, Dr Nikita Gupta, Dr Madhav Jandial and Dr Rohin Gupta.
In its message, Dr Akshay Gupta said that awareness of the specialty is the need of the hour as very little is known by other medical practitioners, about Orthodontics, leave apart general masses. He said that now-a-days some Aligners companies are luring people for cheaper in-house delivery of Aligners for treatment of irregular teeth but be it Aligner of any other mode of treatment chosen by a patient, it should be done only by the IOS certified specialist orthodontists, as getting treatment done by non specialists may lead to serious dental health issues .
The event concluded at Hari Niwas Palace with presentation of mementoes to the dignitaries and certificates of participation to all the doctors.
