BENGALURU: Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairperson Rajeev Shukla on Saturday said that the 2018 edition of the cash rich IPL matches will be played at Jaipur stadium if the ground was ready for it in April.
Speaking to reporters on the opening day of the IPL Player Auction here, he said BCCI had revoked the four year-old ban on Rajasthan Cricket Association following rebel Lalit Modi was re-elected as its President and the matter was settled now.
”Now we are evaluating if we can stage matches in Jaipur come April when the new IPL season starts. We (BCCI) have renewed the recognition to RCA and if the stadium and its pitch is ready to hold the T20 tournament matches we will hold it in Jaipur. If the ground is not ready, then Pune will be the other option,” he said.
Board of Control for Cricket in India had revoked a four-year ban on RCA late last year. Earlier, It had suspended the Association after BCCI ‘rebel’ and former IPL Chief Lalit Modi faced corruption charges and the matter went to the court. However he was re-elected as the RCA President to attract the ire of BCCI bosses.
Mr Shukla however said the RCA had been given due recognition and BCCI will hold IPL matches if the pitch and the stadium was ready. (AGENCIES)
