Srinagar, July 8: Hizbul Mujahideen has released pictures of new recruits which include brother of an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, who is posted in North East.
25-year-old Shamsul Haq Mengnoo, hailing from Shopian, who was pursuing his BUMS from a Government College at Zakura on the outskirts of Srinagar went missing in May this year, fuelling speculation that he might have joined militancy.
Mengnoo is a younger brother of 2012 batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre IPS officer Inamul Haq who is posted as Superintendent of Police (SP) of Hamren police district.
IPS officer Mengnoo, who hails from Shopian district of Kashmir, cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) in 2012 with a rank of 280 and was allotted the Indian Police Service (IPS). His brother was pursuing a course in Unani medicine from Institute of Asian Medical Sciences, Srinagar.
In a picture released on social media, Shamsul could seen be holding a gun. It shows date of joining militant ranks as May 25, 2018. His code name, according to the picture, is Burhan Sani.
