JAMMU, Sept 3: Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA), J&K Chapter today organized multi-lingual short story writing session where Khalid Hussain, a renowned Punjabi short story writer of the state presided over the programme held at its office at Dhanvantari Bhavan, Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu.
Ashwani Pradhan was the guest of honour and GS Charak and Dr Baljeet Singh Raina were the special guests on this occasion. Hardeep Singh Deep, president IPTA (J&K Chapter) shared the dais.
Three short stories were recited in ‘Trey Chikhaan’ in Dogri, ‘Maa Daan’ in Punjabi and ‘Halla Gaadi’ in Hindi by Raj Rahi, a Reasi based writer, Hardeep Singh Deep and Dr Baljeet Raina, Jammu based artists, respectively. Khalid Hussain also read out his two short stories in Punjabi during his presidential address.
Welcoming the guests Hardeep Singh Deep highlighted the new ways of working of IPTA (J&K Chapter) with the introduction of literary activity along with theatre activities at regular intervals. He said that it’s the first of its kind of literary activity after the revival of IPTA at Jammu.
Khalid Hussain said that the present state of affairs in the working of IPTA Jammu is encouraging. He hoped that more such activities would be conducted by the organizers in future also.
Ashwani Pardhan and Mr Charak also expressed their views. Both of them emphasized that the intellectual should analyze the problems of the contemporary world where the gap between the haves and have-nots is widening due to various economical and political reasons and they can influence the public through their writings by suggesting probable solutions.
The programme was attended by theatre activists, writers, artists and intellectuals.
Dr Baljeet Raina conducted the proceedings whereas, Jang S Verman extended the vote of thanks.
