Irate people block NH

KATHUA, Jan 12: The irate residents of Chak Ram Singh and adjoining villages blocked the Jammu -Pathankot National Highway at Hatli More this morning for half an hour in protest against the water crisis in the area.
The protesters raised slogans against the PDD authorities and warned to continue the blockade till the transformer is installed. The protestors said though Lohri festival falls tomorrow but till date no solution has been found to the problem by PDD Department who has failed to replace the transformer in the area.
They said it is for the first time in last four years when the people of the area had to face power crisis like this due to callousness of the authorities. The protestors who included a sizable number of women also said that the ladies and school children are worst sufferers of power failure.
They said that the concerned AEE who was approached by them number of times informed them that he is unable to get the transformer repaired and they have to wait for two days for installation of transformer.
The protesters said though over one week has passed the Department has failed to install the transformer.
Later SHO Kathua and Chowki Officer Hatli arranged the meeting of the protesters with PDD authorities who assured them that the transformer will be installed by tomorrow. On this assurance the protestors dispersed and Highway blockade was lifted.
