Irate villagers block NH, drivers protest against collection of tax

KATHUA, Mar 21: The irate residents of Ghati Kandi blocked the Jammu –Pathankote National Highway at Barnoti for half an hour today in protest against the power failure in the village.
The protestors who took out a protest rally up to Barnoti from the village squatted on the National Highway for half an hour disrupting the movement of vehicular traffic.
They said that the people in the village were facing the power crisis for last many days and authorities were paying no attention to solve the same.
However the people later dispersed after the authorities assured them that the power to the village will be restored immediately.
Meanwhile the vehicular traffic remained disrupted on National Highway at Chanarorian after an agency authorized by Highway Authority started collecting the tax from the vehicles plying on the National Highway.
This was resented by the drivers as well as passengers resulting into the disruption of movement of vehicular traffic.
