IRP 17 Battalion celebrates ‘Raising Day’

JAMMU, June 12: Indian Reserve Police (IRP) 17th Battalion, celebrated “Raising Day with zeal and enthusiasm at battalion headquarters and CTA, Sunjwan.
On the occasion, T Punchok, DIG IRP Range, was the chief guest while, officers/ officials, staff, trainees of CTA, Sunjwana were also present. A ceremonial parade was taken out and guard of honour was presented to the visiting dignitaries.
A demo with regard to use of lathi shield/ mob dispersal and use of non lethal weapons with the help of Vajra (Agnivarsha) vehicle was presented by the trainees of CTA Sunjwan.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP), MK Bhat, presented the welcome address.
While speaking, Mohd Amin Khan, SP, Commandant, threw light on the history of police, which came into existence in 1873.
After passing through difference phases/ stages, police today having strength of 83,000 regular force and 34,000 SPO’s, is one of the best police force in the country, he added. He also threw light on the services rendered by the officers/ jawans.
T Punchok, in his speech stressed on the role of changing trends, nature of duties, human rights, use of non-lethal weapons, etc.
Jawans presented colourful extravaganza and lifted the mood of the event. A volleyball match was also organised on the occasion.At the end, Karanveer Singh, DySP of the battalion, presented vote of thanks.
