JAMMU, Sept 8: IRP 4th Battalion under civic action programme distributed school bags and other stationery items among the students of Government Middle School, Chilla.
On the occasion, DIG, IRP, T Ponchok was the chief guest, who distributed the stationery items in presence of SSP, Pankaj Magu, DSPs, Mohammad Aslam and Ravi Kumar, Tirath Singh, Zonal Education Officer, ST Singh, Headmaster GMS, Chilla, local populace and students.
Speaking on the occasion, DIG, IRP, T Punchok informed that the civic action programme was launched by the JKP two decades back under which the police organisation was providing adequate assistance to destitute, orphans and needy students in remote areas of the State.
DIG urged upon the students to take part in co-curricular activities side by side studies for their overall personality development.
He exhorted upon the teaching fraternity to impart quality education to their pupils and inculcate a sense of discipline among them so that they can compete at national and international levels.
He assured every possible help from Police Department to the poor students in their pursuit for higher education and improvement of infrastructure in the Government schools.
Later, a cultural programme was also presented by the school children.
