IRP distributes items worth Rs 3.41 lakh under CAP

JAMMU, Jan 21: IRP Range Jammu through IRP-14th Battalion Channi-Himmat, Jammu organized Civic Action Programme 2014-15 and distributed uniforms including pants, shirts, sweaters, shoes, socks stockings, besides 50 Nos wooden desks among 425 students of Naveen Shiksha Kendra High School, Bala Enclave, Channi-Himmat, here today.
DIG-IRP Jammu, Vijay Singh Sambyal provided the items to the School authorities.
He said that purchasing and survey committees were constituted for the purchase of uniform and wooden desks for the students of the School.
It is pertinent to mention here that children studying in the School are mainly from the slums and weaker sections of the society and on the initiative of Dr R R Khajuria, founder member of Savera NGO, the School was started with just 5 children from slums about 20 years back. The parents of the students of the school belong to labour class mainly hailing from Bihar, Orissa and Chhattisgarh areas.
Mr Sambyal said, continuing its efforts to help the society, J&K Police has once again showed its gesture under its Civic Action Programme (CAP) organized by IR-14th Bn Jammu to strengthen  its Police-Public relations especially focusing on school going kids of economically downtrodden people.
R P Singh, Project Director, National Highway was the guest of honour, while Commandant M M Choudhary SSP, IRP-14th Bn and members of management committee including Y P Khajuria, president Savera, Ram Gopal Sharma Chairman School, S.K. Dogra General Secretary,  P.S. Slathia, vice president Savera, B S Bhindra, treasurer also spoke on the occasion.
A beautiful cultural programme was presented by the students of the School on the occasion.
GOs of IR-14th Bn including Joginder Singh Chib, DySP, Santokh Raj, DySP, Shabir Ahmad, DySP and DySP Mohan Lal Thakur. Staff Officer to DIG-IRP Jammu also participated in the function.
